Disaster relief

Disaster relief operations require rapid coordination amongst multiple agencies. Often, relief organisations operate global footprints which means having reliable, seamless connectivity to send timely information about conditions on the ground is vital to ensure that the right supplies are sent to the right locations as quickly as possible.

UAVs are an ideal way to quickly obtain data to coordinate logistics when terrestrial infrastructure such as roads and mobile networks are incapacitated. They can also be used to transport critical supplies or help with the evacuation of injured persons.

Satellite connectivity is critical in this context as it allows UAVs to fly beyond-line-of-sight of ground controllers, and to be deployed in areas that would be difficult for ground-based pilots to gain access.

Intrepid Minds: Working with aid organisations to improve logistics in disaster response operations

Intrepid Minds works with agencies in both the private and public sector to utilise UAV technology to improve operations.

In the UAV Pop-up Lab, it will work with public sector groups to demonstrate the utility of its UAVs to operate operate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions to support disaster response. This will include both logistical aspects as well as transport and medical evacuations using its UAV platform.
